supplied the outstation controllers at the three weirs and the control room masterstation for this project. The communication is via dial up PSTN lines. Each local weir outstation provides automated control of the river level by changing the weir gate angle. The control system uses river level and rate of change sensors to predict the required weir gate position.
In addition, the outstation broadcasts an audible warning when the gate level is being changed. It also uses video cameras to monitor the river for trapped debris in the gate.
The three local controllers also included gate tamper sensors and break-in alarms, in case of unauthorised access.
The central station is used to monitor the downloaded video pictures and set the river-levels.
An automatic voice alarm is sent via telephone lines to duty personnel directly from the weir gate in the event of an emergency.
