TERMINAL MONITORING SYSTEM FOR PEMEX MEXICO

PEMEX, THE STATE OWNED OIL COMPANY OF MEXICO IS USING ’S SYSTEM TO MONITOR THE TANKER BERTHS AT ITS DOS BOCOS OIL TERMINAL.

THE SYSTEM MONITORS THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AS CRUDE OIL IS LOADED THROUGH TWO SINGLE PIONT MOORINGS TO TANKERS LYING 20 KMS OFFSHORE.

IT IS DESIGNED TO GIVE EARLY WARNING OF A POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS SITUATION REQUIRING ACTION BY THE MOORING MASTER, OR A SHUTDOWN FROM THE ON-SHORE CONTROL ROOM.

THE SYSTEM MONITORS:

LOAD ON THE MOORING HAWSERS TO THE TANKER
PRESSURE OF THE CRUDE OIL
WIND SPEED AND DIRECTION
SEA CURRENT SPEED AND DIRECTION
TIDE AND WAVE HEIGHT

THE SYSTEM INCORPORATES TELEMETRY EQUIPMENT ON EACH BUOY TO COMMUNICATE WITH AN ON-SHORE MASTERSTATION. THE EQUIPMENT IS SOLAR POWERED, AND DESIGNED TO OPERATE IN THE POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE ON THE SPMS. THE MASTERSTATION IS PC BASED RUNNING ’S ‘SCADAPLUS’ SOFTWARE. THE SOFTWARE PROVIDES REAL TIME DISPLAYS WITH ALARM FACILITIES. IT ALSO ALLOWS FOR PROCESSING OF HISTORICAL DATA AND TREND ANALYSIS.

PEMEX HAVE CHOSEN TO PURCHASE THE ‘HAWSER LIFE’ SOFTWARE MODULE, WHICH KEEPS AN UP TO DATE RECORD OF THE REMAINING STRENGTH IN EACH HAWSER.

ALSO SUPPLIED ARE PORTABLE MARINE DISPLAY UNITS FOR USE ONBOARD THE TANKERS.

TO ENSURE VERY HIGH QUALITY RADIO TRANSMISSION UNDER ALL CONDITIONS, THE SYSTEM USES DUAL REDUNDANT COMMUNICATION PATHS. A SPECIALLY BUILT 40-MTR ANTENNA MAST RECEIVES THE RADIO SIGNALS AT THE CONTROL CENTRE.
