HAS PROVIDED A TURNKEY REMOTE CONTROL SOLUTION FOR THE ADMA-OPCO UMM SHAIF FIELD DEVELOPMENT PROJECT. THIS MAJOR PROGRAMME OF WORK INCLUDED THE MASTER TELEMETRY UNIT (MTU) ON THE UMM SHAIF SUPER COMPLEX (USSC) FACILITY AND THE FULLY INTEGRATED, TOTALLY INTRINSICALLY SAFE REMOTE WELLHEAD CONTROL SYSTEM WITH TELEMETRY FOR SIX NORMALLY UNMANNED PRODUCTION PLATFORMS, CONTROLLED AND MONITORED FROM THE USSC.

UMM SHAIF SUPER COMPLEX MTU SOLUTION

THE PRINCIPAL COMPONENTS OF THE MTU ARCHITECTURE ARE TWO VAX STATION 4100 COMPUTERS RUNNING A VMS OPERATING SYSTEM AND THE MTU’S ‘INTEGRITY’ BASED SOFTWARE. ‘INTEGRITY’ IS A STANDARD SOFTWARE PRODUCT ENABLING THE SYSTEM TO OPERATE IN A ‘HOT STANDBY’ MODE, HAVING A HIGH DEGREE OF CONFIGURABILITY. TO FACILITATE ‘HOT STANDBY’, THE TWO VAX STATIONS ARE CONNECTED TO A DECNET LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN), THUS ENABLING REAL TIME STATUS INFORMATION EXCHANGE. THIS SCADA SOFTWARE WAS CONFIGURED TO 15,000 DATABASE POINTS. SUBSEQUENTLY, THIS WAS INCREASED TO 60,000 POINTS FOR A LATER PROJECT (INCLUSION OF FURTHER PLATFORMS).

THE USSC LOCAL RTU, A DUAL REDUNDANT DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM POWERED BY A DUAL REDUNDANT POWER SUPPLY, IS FOR THE CONTROL AND MONITORING OF LOCAL ESD POWER SYSTEMS AND RADIO LINKS. THE RTU CONSIST OF TWO IDENTICAL UNITS OPERATING IN PARALLEL. EACH UNIT SEPARATELY CONNECTED TO THE DEC SYSTEM BY THE DEC SERVER.

THE DAS ISLAND RTU PROVIDES THE MTU WITH A CONTROL AND MONITORING CAPABILITY OF THE DAS ISLAND GAS PRODUCTION PIPELINE. THE MTU POLLS THIS RTU USING A MICROWAVE COMMUNICATION LINK
